Metrics

Detailed overview of all of the Swing ML metrics.

Knee Bend

How much you bend your back knee during your swing. An optimal range is between 80° and 120°.

Hip Rotation

How much your hips rotate over the course of a full swing. An optimal hip rotation is over 75°.

Horizontal Hip Movement

How much your hips move parallel to the ground. This should be as low as possible. As you swing your goal is to only rotate your hips not move them. A large amount of hip movement could be a symptom of poor lower body stability and impact the transfer of energy from your lower body to upper body.

Vertical Hip Movement

How much your hips move perpendicular to the ground. This should be as close to 0 as possible. As you swing, your goal is to only rotate your hips not move them. A large amount of vertical hip movement could be a symptom of a redirection of hip power vertically instead of towards rotating the upper body.

Hip-Shoulder Alignment

How aligned your upper body and lower body rotation is. This should be as close to 100% as possible which would indicate perfect rotation alignment. A lower percent could indicate you are rotating your hips and shoulders at different speeds or not timing the rotation correctly.

Hip-Shoulder Alignment Chart

The chart at the bottom is for you to compare the alignment of the rotation of your hips and shoulders. The top bar shows the rotation of your hips from starting angle to end angle. The bottom bar does the same for your shoulders. The gray bar in the center shows the time at which your hips and shoulders should be at the right point in their rotation to make contact with the ball. The small gray bars on the hip and shoulder bars show the point in their respective rotation when they were optimal position to make contact. You want all three gray bars to be as aligned as possible for the best “Hip-Shoulder Alignment” score.

Time to Contact

The time from the start of your swing to when you were in the optimal position to make contact with the ball. You want this as low as possible for a fast swing.
